Rainy afternoon in Skippers

When the Wetlands afternoon was cancelled Skippers decided to have an afternoon full of Joy. We were collaborating with each other to build a tower, writing in our free writing books, doing some mindful colouring, being creative and up-cycling some old boxes, working with Miss Eve to create a town-scape collage, making pictures with shapes and doing some exercise...phew, what an afternoon!

Helping Hands

In Skippers during Concept we are discussing how we use our hands to help our community.
We did some hand print painting last week.
Now we're collaborating in our groups to talk about how we help each other.
Some people are the writers. Some people are the speakers.

Shape My World

Miss Eve asked us to challenge ourselves. We were only allowed to use 10 or less shapes to make a picture.

Next time we're going to do a specific picture of someone in our community to link with our concept.

"I made a little ship. They are the boosters at the bottom and they have three windscreens. It goes to Australia." - Toby

Here are some other examples:

Puppets and Parfaits

We, the Explorers and Discoverers, shared our learning about mechanisms. We created puppets using a simple mechanism.  We performed a song from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, "Doll On A Music Box/Truly Scrumptious".

The puppet making process was very challenging. A lot of us had to start from scratch more than once as our puppets weren't big enough.

Thank you for coming to see our learning journey.

Making Puppets with Simple Mechanisms

We worked hard to make our puppets have all the right body parts and to make sure they are the right size.

Working Together

Ben, Hemi, Amelie and Toby collaborated on some very complex vehicles during Town Time.

"This is a ship. We worked really hard, it's cool and I like it. We are very proud." - Amelie

"This is our (Hemi and Amelie's) ship." - Hemi

"We made all of this by ourselves. There are mini planes and some pieces can come off the big ships. There are two submarines." - Toby
