Rainy afternoon in Skippers

When the Wetlands afternoon was cancelled Skippers decided to have an afternoon full of Joy. We were collaborating with each other to build a tower, writing in our free writing books, doing some mindful colouring, being creative and up-cycling some old boxes, working with Miss Eve to create a town-scape collage, making pictures with shapes and doing some exercise...phew, what an afternoon!

Helping Hands

In Skippers during Concept we are discussing how we use our hands to help our community.
We did some hand print painting last week.
Now we're collaborating in our groups to talk about how we help each other.
Some people are the writers. Some people are the speakers.

Reading To Learn

This reading group is learning about the coldest places on earth. The globe helped us understand where the "poles" are and we discussed why they are cold.

Throwing and Catching

We are practising throwing and catching. In this game we tried to see how many throws we could do without dropping the ball. You have to get your hands ready and watch the ball closely.

Curiosity and Collaboration in Pounamu

What did you make James?
"I did my best plane and then I cut it out. My favourite part is the back engine and the front part."

Why did you do a plane?
"Me and Sam are making an airport together out of paper."

Questioning at reading time.

We are learning to ask questions before reading. It helps us understand what we read.

Oral Language Learning

We had some really interesting news in the Discoverers today.

James spent a long time using his growth mindset building Lego.

Otis bought in some lights from a shop near the new Countdown.

Charlotte bought some stones in from a special shop.

Is it Spring time? BOING!

This morning we were exploring springs.
We talked about stretching and squeezing and bending. We looked at a simple writing pen and observed the spring inside it.

Have you got a slinky at home? Get us to show you the three different things you do with springs.
