We are doing a lot of thinking around writing this week in Skippers. We're looking at procedural texts (instructions). In order to understand how to write instructions, we had to follow some to make a paper plane.  Check out our planes! Next we're going to write our instructions.

We are challenging ourselves in art today. We are creating our own busy street scene by using pva, scissors and magazines. We like Eric Carle's style and are using it to cut out trees, buildings, trains and cars. Come in and see our art in progress.

Today at assembly Ms Bee reminded us of our school values. One of them is Growth Mindset. Here you can see Skippers children working hard to learn to skip. They didn't give up and worked really hard, even though it was tricky. We'll update you later.

Wow I am so proud of all of these Pounamu children. They did an amazing job and were dedicated to practising! They should be really proud of themselves. Check out their moves.

These Are The People In Our Neighbourhood

We celebrated our concept learning today. We have been learning about the different people in our community and how they help us.
Skippers stepped into the kitchen and made fruit kebabs. We know that chefs are people in our community who make food for others and bring them joy.
We also filmed our scenes for our concept movies. Thank you to the parents and kids for the efforts with dress ups, you all looked fabulous! We felt so safe at school today because we had so many firefighters and policemen/policewomen to look after us.

We are learning the digraph "ss".

Digraphs are two letters that make one sound. 

Please ask us to write you some ss words tonight.

Last week we learned "sh" and "ll" which are also digraphs.

Adelaide's News

Adelaide showed us a sticker picture that she made at home. Miss Eve was impressed as it was double sided! She has a picture on both sides! Go Adelaide. 

Rhythm Interactive

We were so lucky today to have a visit from Johnno at Rhythm Interactive. We all had our own drum and got to learn some drum beat rhythms. We experienced so much joy, as you can see from the photos and the videos.

Growth Mindsets in Sport

We ran the cross country today. It was so much fun. Even though it was muddy and slippery we all participated and did our best. Thank you to the parents and friends who supported us.
