Zoe's News

Zoe went to the dentist. She shared a photo of her news. She had to get her teeth looked at.
Pounamu have been lucky enough to have had some bikes and appliances donated to us. The children have loved taking these apart and finding out what mechanisms are on the inside.

A day in Pounamu

Today we had singing first. We are practising, getting ready for our offical opening next week.

Maths was next. We were learning to measure things and work on our pebbles.

After playtime we had read and feed followed by guiding reading and town time.

After lunch we had a quick practise for assembly and then time for a game of tricky tag.

To end the week we had assembly that the Discoverers led and the Adventurers shared some of their writing.
Another busy week of learning in Pounamu.

Our Book Nook

Zach: "I like the Book Nook because I like quiet spaces. I like quiet TV where it doesn't make so much noise."

Sidney: "I like it because it's so fun. This one here, I'm reading about the naughty girl. She ripped a teddy."

Reading Time!

Castle Collaboration

Reading To Learn

This reading group is learning about the coldest places on earth. The globe helped us understand where the "poles" are and we discussed why they are cold.

Read and Feed

The Explorers and Investigators are enjoying an Eric Carle book at Read And Read time.

Throwing and Catching

We are practising throwing and catching. In this game we tried to see how many throws we could do without dropping the ball. You have to get your hands ready and watch the ball closely.

Our Castle

Playdough with Zoe

"I tried first and I don't make it well, then Londyn and I collaborated and she showed me how to do it. You roll it up and then you curl it up ad draw little faces on them. All together we made four." -Zoe

Ana's Creativity

"The Friendship of Magic Castle"

These four hine (girls) worked together to make a beautiful castle.

Working Together

Ben, Hemi, Amelie and Toby collaborated on some very complex vehicles during Town Time.

"This is a ship. We worked really hard, it's cool and I like it. We are very proud." - Amelie

"This is our (Hemi and Amelie's) ship." - Hemi

"We made all of this by ourselves. There are mini planes and some pieces can come off the big ships. There are two submarines." - Toby

Curiosity and Collaboration in Pounamu

What did you make James?
"I did my best plane and then I cut it out. My favourite part is the back engine and the front part."

Why did you do a plane?
"Me and Sam are making an airport together out of paper."

Town Time Learning

Sofia painted a beautiful picture using watercolours. She then wrote about her picture.
